The Bathroom Drawer that Wasn't

There is a problem with my bathroom, would you like to help me solve it?  Our bathroom drawers have absolutely no storage.  We purchased this fabulous vanity on overstock.com when we remodeled about four years ago.  Gorgeous.  Totally not practical.
There is only one drawer under each sink and it isn't even a full drawer.  They have a cutout in them so the piping can fit behind.  If this was just a guest bathroom it wouldn't be such a big deal but it is our main bath.  The bathroom itself is oversized so there is nook in another corner that looks like this:

It just has some knick knacky things on the free yard sale shelf.  I could buy a hanging wall cabinet which is the obvious choice - but I feel like there might be a cheaper option that is a little more exciting??  Anyone have any ideas?

This is the awful drawer.  Let me also note that this is AFTER I organized and cleaned it.

I saw this fantastic idea on pinterest but since it's a shared bathroom I don't want it to look to cluttered.

Would love to hear your suggestions!

That really depends on what you have in mind. These are a few of the cool ideas I found. While they may not be cheaper than simple hanging shelves, I thought they were pretty cool:

Whatever you decide, I think baskets or crates will be your key to helping hide things like make-up, kiddo bath toys, hair products, etc. Even cheap shelving can look that much richer with pretty baskets to contain your stuff.

I can't help it though - I ADORE that dresser vanity you picked out!

One idea would be to move the hamper out of the bathroom and place a shelf (maybe a ladder shelf) there instead. Craigslist is always full of unique shelves that can be painted to look great!

Then place your stuff in baskets on the shelves to give it a uniform look. We have some baskets with a cloth lining that peaks out on the top. The linings were home-made and washable too.

Shelves are also a nice place to put extra towels neatly folded.

I also agree that the vanity is super cute :)

Jody your pins are awesome!!! Darn you pinterest. Sherry I have a ladder shelf downstairs that may do the job!! I have been staring at it in our living room downstairs thinking that all the stuff on it is dangerous and should be taken down before addy starts crawling anways! haha.
